Owen Nixon - Leadsinger
Owen Nixon began singing in his grandmother's house at the age of 4. He is the minister of music at the Saint Mary Church of Christ in Hampton Virginia. A committed spiritual singer, he was chosen as a member for the All City Chorus of the city of Portsmouth. Owen is a graduate of Churchland High School and Norfolk State University with a Bachelor of Music degree, focusing on media studies. At Norfolk State University he was the a cappella singing solo artist in 2001 and 2002. Owen has toured extensively throughout Europe for many years. His power, drive, and commitment are what distinguish him as a major force behind the success of The Gospel People.

Brandon Landrum - Keyboard
Singer, songwriter, producer and musican are just a few words to describe Brandon Landrum. As an independent musician and singer he has the wonderful opportunity of traveling the world, performing and playing with "The Gospel People" shows. Brandon has a background as a keyboard player and is a very active writer, arranging demanding productions for various artists. He has a clever rhythmic lyrical style that fuses the sounds of R&B, Pop and Hip Hop. Brandon´s personal goal is to express and help other artists to express their feelings and stories to the world with music as its vehicle, spreading a message of love and hope to all he encounters.
Deidre Valentine - Singer (Queen of Gospel)
Deidre comes from Cleveland, Ohio, and is the product of a very musical family. Her parents were gospel artists in their own right. She discovered her musical talent early growing up in the Star of Bethel Baptist Church. She graduated from Erieview Catholic High School and went to Charmayne Academy for hair and make-up. Her musical influences include Aretha Franklin, Issac Hayes, Fred Hammond, The Winans Family, The Clark Sisters, Dawkins&Dawkins and others. Ms. Valentine has sung background vocals for such artists as Dorothy Norwood, Lyle Lovett and Kim Burell. “The Queen” has been lead singer,arranger and producer for C-town Records of Cleveland. She is also a vocal coach. She is a music director and teacher. Deidre was a member of The Golden Gospel singers. Her hobbies include cooking, reading, writing, and art. She truly loves giving God the praise and it is evident when she sings from her heart.
Brightnie Jones - Singer
Brightnie Jones, has been singing since the age of two. Her mother was her first vocal coach. Much of what she learned early in life was gleaned from listening to the radio. Her influences include such gospel artists as Yolanda Adams, CeCe Winans, Vicky Winans, Israel Houghton, Tye Tribbett, and Mary-Mary. She aims to be a graceful and well-rounded artist and songwriter in Gospel music. While gospel music is her first love she has completed her studies in classical music at Nyack College in New York City. At Nyack, she participated in chapel services, visited several churches in and around the City, and toured as a soloist with the Nyack College NYC Chorale out of state, in Italy, and South Korea. She has also sung with “Chapter 2,” an ensemble group that performed with Josh Groban, Alicia Keys, and Charice Pempengco. Her focus now is on continuing her education in graduate studies and promoting her first album. She says her goal is to share her music around the world and to "…encourage God's people the way He continually encourages me." She is truly one of a kind!
Jennifer Sheffield - Singer
Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, the home of Motown Music,Jennifer Sheffield grew up with a passion and love for all genres of music. Jennifer’s love for the art has granted her the opportunity to sing background vocals for several major artists in the United States and travel to sing at big arenas. She first joined The Gospel People for the holiday season of 2008-2009 and had the pleasure of touring around the world and making a huge impact through song and gospel. Jennifer is elated to join back with The Gospel People touring and spreading the word for Christ!
